La 20ª edición de la International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (PAAMS) y los congresos paralelos DCAI, ISAMI, MIS4TEL, PACBB, DECON y BLOCKCHAIN organizados por el Grupo de Investigación BISITE ha sido todo un éxito. El evento se celebró del 13 al 15 de julio en la Universidad de L’Aquila, Italia y contó con la participación de más de 200 investigadores, desarrolladores y académicos de distintas latitudes, quienes intervinieron de forma online o presencial.

Las sesiones plenarias estuvieron amenizadas por Tiziana Catarci, profesora de Ciencias de la Computación e Ingeniería en la Universidad Sapienza de Roma (Italia), Hugues Bersini codirector del laboratorio IRIDIA de la Universidad Libre de Bruselas (Bélgica) y Juan Manuel Corchado, director del Grupo de Investigación BISITE y presidente del AIR Institute, quien tuvo la oportunidad de inaugurar el congreso e impartir la ponencia titulada «Intelligence 5.0: the human being at the center of the production chain».

Durante la charla, Corchado habló sobre la Inteligencia Artificial, la evolución de los sistemas informáticos inteligentes y, sobre la tendencia actual en el uso de la IA que avanza hacia la elaboración de sofisticadas máquinas sociales, en las que los humanos forman parte del proceso de toma de decisiones de los algoritmos de IA. Asimismo, presentó algunos de los proyectos que se están desarrollando tanto en BISITE como en AIR Institute, a fin de dar a conocer todo lo que hemos desarrollado gracias a la IA y otras tecnologías como el blockchain, Internet de las Cosas o la ciberseguridad.

Sobre PAAMS Conference

PAAMS es un foro internacional que año tras año reúne a investigadores para presentar y discutir los últimos avances científicos y sus aplicaciones efectivas en el campo de los sistemas multiagente, además de facilitar la transferencia de tecnología. PAAMS comenzó como una iniciativa local, pero desde entonces ha crecido hasta convertirse en la plataforma anual internacional para presentar, debatir y difundir los últimos desarrollos y los resultados más importantes relacionados con las aplicaciones del mundo real. En este momento, PAAMS está clasificado como B2 por CAPES Qualis CC-Events y B por CORE Ranking.

Próxima edición PAAMS Conference

Como cada año, contamos con interesantes participaciones que nos han permitido conocer las novedades sobre Sistemas Multiagentes, Inteligencia Artificial, Blockchain, economía o bioinformática. La próxima edición se celebrará en la Universidad do Minho, Guimarães, Portugal y, esperamos seguir reuniendo a grandes especialistas para debatir y aportar ideas innovadoras en los distintos campos de investigación presentes tanto en PAAMS como en los congresos que se celebran en conjunto.

Juan Manuel Corchado (15 May 1971, Salamanca, Spain) is Professor at the University of Salamanca. He has been Vice-Rector for Research from 2013 to 2017 and Director of the Science Park of the University of Salamanca. Elected as Dean of the Faculty of Science twice, he holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Salamanca and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of the West of Scotland. He leads the renowned BISITE (Bioinformatics, Intelligent Systems and Educational Technology) Research Group, created in 2000. Director of the IoT Digital Innovation Hub and President of the AIR Institute, J. M. Corchado is also Visiting Professor at the Osaka Institute of Technology since January 2015, Visiting Professor at the Universiti Malaysia Kelantan and Member of the Advisory Group on Online Terrorist Propaganda of the European Counter Terrorism Centre (EUROPOL). J. M. Corchado has been president of the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society, and academic coordinator of the University Institute for Research in Art and Animation Technology at the University of Salamanca, as well as researcher at the Universities of Paisley (UK), Vigo (Spain) and the Plymouth Marine Laboratory (UK). He currently combines all his activity with the direction of Master programmes in Security, Digital Animation, Mobile Telephony, Information Systems Management, Internet of Things, Social Media, 3D Design and Printing, Blockchain, Z System, Industry 4.0, Agile Project Management, and Smart Cities & Intelligent Buildings, at the University of Salamanca and his work as editor-in-chief of the journals ADCAIJ (Advances in Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence Journal), OJCST (Oriental Journal of Computer Science and Technology) or Electronics MDPI (Computer Science & Engineering section). J. M. Corchado mainly works on projects related to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain, IoT, Fog Computing, Edge Computing, Smart Cities, Smart Grids and Sentiment Analysis. He has recently been included in the board of trustees of the AstraZeneca Foundation, along with other health professionals and researchers recognised for bringing scientific knowledge closer to society.
